2022 Roadmasters Series
UPDATES: End of year party Dec 10th 4:30 at RYC.
The 2022 edition of the Roadmasters series retains the 2021 scoring method, allowing credit for local racing events. IT’S WORKING! Even at the top of the fleet, only one boat made it to all RM events in 2021 (congrats Ruby!), while most others took advantage of the flexibility. And to boot we had a bunch more SF boats go sail in Santa Cruz and vice versa.
SCORING
In order to accommodate scoring different regional races against each other, the scoring system is using a High Point Normalized Scoring Method® according to the following guidelines:
A boat’s score for each regatta will be calculated based on how many boats finished behind it: the score will be (number of boats beaten + 1 ) / total number of boats participating x 100. This number will be an integer value between zero and one hundred.
A boat is considered to have participated in a regatta if it was in the vicinity of the staring area at the time of the start. This includes boats that finished properly, or were scored DNF, OCS, RAF, in at least one race of the regatta. The specific intent is to count boats that came to the event, but may have been unknowingly OCS (and therefore did not properly start), and boats that sailed the race but DNF. Registered boats that did not show up to the event (DNC) are not considered participants.
Two day events will be entered into the results as two events with that score; three day events will be entered as three events with that score. We are effectively weighing events by the number of days sailed. This will, for example, weight your score at Nationals three times more than the Three Bridge Fiasco.
Boats may sail any number of races in any geography. Up to three of those scores can replace lower results in the Roadmasters series.
The Roadmaster Series Score is the sum of the highest 11 scores of 15 days of racing, totaling a maximum of 1100 points.
Ties in final scoring will be broken in accordance with RRS A8.
In order to be eligible for the Roadmasters awards, a boat may miss PCCs or Nationals, but not both.
