  • Welcome to the Santa Cruz Yacht Club

Welcome to the Santa Cruz Yacht Club. SCYC is located in the northern region of the beautiful Monterey Bay. The club was founded on the Santa Cruz Municipal Warf in 1928 and was moved to its present location on 4th Avenue in 1964.

We have recently expanded and remodeled our clubhouse and built a tram from the harbor up to the club with a scenic view of the harbor and Monterey Bay. SCYC has a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere that promotes fun for the entire yachting community.

Many of our members are world renown for designing and building ultra light displacement boats (ULDB’S) that revolutionized sailboat racing in the 1970’s.

We take pride in our membership’s participation and support of local, regional and worldwide regattas. We host world-class regattas as well as national and local fun regattas. Some of the major events held at the club include the Windjammers Regatta, the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Benefit Regatta, One Design races, SCORE (Santa Cruz Ocean Racing Extravaganza), and the West Marine Fun Regatta (which benefits Junior sailing), as well as many local, national, world and Olympic Class Regattas. This year alone we have held four national regattas and one world-class regatta.

There are many enjoyable activities to participate in at SCYC. There is sailing, racing, cruising, and many social functions. Also there is an award winning junior program and a growing intermediate sailing program for young adults. We are a volunteer based yacht club, which brings us close together for the fun of it. Come and get involved.

I'm interested in restoring a Moore24. I currently own an Olson30 and love racing it, but it's a bit deep for the Wednesday night venue here.

If not a boat for restoration, if someone knows where to get a mold? If not a mold, is someone willing to have their boat made into a mold?

I'm game for a few different ideas.

    Thanks,

    Jason

The Pre-Skippers meeting had very good attendance. If you have an event at your club where a 5-10 min overview (more or less) would be of interest, let me know! Richmond? Tiburon? Santa Cruz? SF? Alameda?
    Thanks!
